Helen Borden Church, Henning, Minn., 75, died peacefully July 17, 2008, in Colorado from colon cancer.

A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 625 3rd St NW, Wadena, MN 56482 at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug 16. The family wishes any memorials to be sent here.

Helen was born in Dardanelle, Ark., to Al and Rose Borden, the oldest of five children. She graduated from high school in Battle Creek, Mich., and Beloit College in Wis., then U of M Dental College. In 1955, she began work as a dental hygienist in Tecumseh, Mich., married Robert Mohr, had three children and moved to Battle Creek. Helen moved her family to Wahpeton, N.D., in 1966 where she taught dental hygiene at the State School of Science. She remarried in 1974 to Eddie Church, but soon widowed. She moved to teach at the Technical College in Wausau, Wis. In 1979 she became legal guardian of teenage daughter, Melanie. She retired in 1995.

After much study of the Bible, she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1975. She loved helping other people learn the Bible and was very active in the ministry. One of her favorite scriptures was Psalms 83:18, letting people know that God has a personal name.

Helen was known for her loving generosity and opening her home on West Battle Lake to many, many friends. She loved gardening and sharing her raspberries and strawberries with everyone. Her faithful dog companion, Tiffany went everywhere with her, even windsurfing. The family would like to thank all her friends for their very kind love and support throughout all these years.

She is survived by: her children and their spouses, Kathy and John Redmond, Tom and Leslie Mohr, David and Christy Mohr, and Melanie and Todd Chilsen; eight grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Alec, Caroline, Julie and Bobby.

Helen was preceded in death by both husbands.
