The driver, Melanie Flegel, and front seat passenger, Faith Blotsky, were injured. The back seat passenger, Ricky Santiago, 42, was deceased at the scene. Flegel and Santiago were both ejected from the van. Flegel was transported to Innovis Hospital in Fargo. Blotsky was taken to Innovis Hospital via LifeFlight air ambulance.
Officers at the scene detected alcohol on the driver and she was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The crash is still under investigation and the results of that investigation will be forwarded to the Richland County State’s Attorney’s office for prosecution.
