Loraas charged with felonies
by Erin C. Hevern • Daily News
Sandra May Loraas made no plea at her appearance in Richland County District Court Tuesday.
Loraas faces charges of complaint of theft of property, possession of stolen property and attempted theft of property.
All are class 'C' felonies with a maximum penalty of $5,000 in fines and five years in prison, said Richland County District Court Judge Richard Grosz. Grosz set a status hearing on this case for Thursday, April 9 at 1 p.m.
Natalie Johnson, owner of the Cowgal's Great Bend Saloon, alleges Loraas acquired two business credit cards - one in her name and one in her husband's name - and another employee's ATM card personal identification number.
Johnson, displaying statements after Tuesday's appearance, showed 13 charges to her husband's credit card and 55 charges to her credit card expending nearly $1,500. The majority of the purchases and withdrawals were made at the Dakota Magic Casino and Hotel in Hankinson and while she was still employed at the Cowgal's Saloon.
Johnson also claims the establishment's cash registers were regularly short money, yet she couldn't prove the source.
