WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Bobcat Co. says it will shut down production at its Gwinner and Bismarck plants for part of March due to slack demand for construction equipment.

The West Fargo company makes skid-steer loaders and other light construction equipment. Its North Dakota plants have about 2,000 employees combined.

The company says it will shut down production at the Gwinner plant during parts of three weeks in March and at the Bismarck plant during six days scattered over two weeks in March.

Spokeswoman Nikki Bruce says the company “will continue to evaluate market conditions and adjust production levels accordingly.”

Workers at the two plants returned to their jobs Feb. 12, after an eight-week layoff that started in mid-December.

Bobcat’s parent company is Doosan Infracore International, a U.S.-based subsidiary of South-Korea-based Doosan Infracore.
