New ND campaign starts against underage drinking
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — State officials are mailing out brochures to parents of teenagers around North Dakota in a new campaign against underage drinking.
Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says a survey of communities last year found one-third of the adults thought teenage drinking was acceptable.
Stenehjem calls that shocking. He says it shows a need to make people aware of the laws and the problems involving underage drinking.
State Human Services Director Carol Olson says the goal is to get parents to talk to their children about it, followed by discussions in schools and in communities.
