Three Rivers Youth bowling wraps up year

The Three Rivers youth bowling ended another successful year with its year-end awards banquet April 2nd at the Mehok Center.

Food was served and door prizes were given away.

Several league awards were presented.

Champions of the Saturday 10:00 am league were the Alley Katz (Hayden Lunos, Brittany Ceminski, Kayla Oplinger, Connor Koppang, Abby Nelson, and Katie Lunos).

Second place went to the Sandbaggers (Allyson Meyer, Kris Rinnels, Austin Brunkhorst, Evan Sitz, and Dillon Meyer).

High Game for boys was Nick Holkup with a 267 and Katie Lunos for girls with a 191.

High Series for girls was Megan Green (449), for boys, Nick Holkup (635).

Most improved girls was Katie Lunos with a plus 9.4 pins. Most improved boys was Hayden Lunos with a plus 26 pins.

Sunday Teen League winners were the Huskies (Evan Sitz, TJ Kline, Nick Johnson, Caleb Meide, Dillon Meyer, and Brandon Edwardson).

The Cowboys (Chad Olson, Brian Weidner, Travis Wiertzema, and Justin Wiertzema) came in second.

High Game Girls was Allyson Meyer with 246.

High Game Boys went to Dillon Meyer with 278.

High Series Girls went to Allyson Meyer at 591.

High Series Boys was Dillon Meyer with 754.

Most Improved Girls:

Allyson Meyer, plus 14 pins.

Most Improved Boys:

Jacob Larson, plus 17 pins.

Dillon Meyer was presented an USBC 11 in a row award for his 290 game in which he spared the first frame and then had 11 strikes.

Overall high averages for the year were also presented.

These awards went to Logan Strand for the boys with a 123 and Taylor Jirak for the girls with a 98 in the 11 and under division.

In the 12 and over division, it was Dillon Meyer with a 225 average and Allyson Meyer with a 180 average.

Youth bowlers earned points during the year for each 500, 600, 700 series and all 200 and over games.

They also earned points during the city tournament.

The top four point scorers comprised up the “Dream Team”.

The members of the team are Dillon Meyer (captain), Evan Sitz, Allyson Meyer, and Kristopher Rinnels.

All 10th thru 12th graders were eligible to apply for a scholarship by filling out a scholarship form.

The scholarship is based on academics, service, and bowling achievements.

This year two $250 scholarships were awarded.

They went to Caleb Meide and Evan Sitz.

In the past 9 years, Three Rivers has given away $14,100 in scholarships.
