The funding, in the form of rural economic development loans, is appropriated by Congress and will reach a number of counties in the state, including Richland County.
"We look forward to seeing these projects become a reality and boost the economy of our rural communities," said the delegation in a joint statement. The delegation consists of Sens. Byron Dorgan and Kent Conrad and Congressman Earl Pomeroy.

"These loan dollars are only available through USDA through rural utilities," said Dakota Valley Electric Cooperative staff assistant Michelle Berry. "Since it was such a large, multi-million dollar project we chose to apply for the [maximum] amount."
The funding is set to be used for assistance in their current construction project — a 30,000 square foot processing facility along N.D. Highway 13 and to help purchase equipment. Giant Snacks representatives have said previously the project will create 45 new jobs.
"Comstock is completing most of the warehouse and production portion of the project and working on the office portion of the building," said Robert Schuler of Giant Snacks. The production and warehouse areas are scheduled for completion in June and the offices are set to be finished by the end of July.
"We're really excited about the project," Berry said. "Bringing jobs to the area, that's what our main goal is."
A $600,000 loan has been awarded to the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency to help finance housing development and other projects in Adams, Bowman, Burke, Dunn, Golden Valley, Hettinger, McHenry, Mountrail and Pierce counties. Loan proceeds will help fill the gap for construction financing of homes. The funding from this project will create 23 jobs, save 46 jobs, and assist 10 businesses.
