Lawrence "Larry" George Novotny was born June 14, 1956, in Breckenridge, Minn., the son of George and Georgine (Vlasaty) Novotny. He attended first grade at Stiles Elementary School and finished his primary education at Lidgerwood Public School. Larry then attended North Dakota State School of Science from 1974 to 1976 majoring in automotive technology. He was active in the Auto-Mech Club from 1975 to 1976. He received his associate's degree with a GPA of 4.0 in May of 1976.
After college he worked for Smith Motors and Wolfe Ford, but outdoor work seemed to agree with him. He then worked five seasons with the North Dakota Highway Department on a survey crew and then five seasons for Fieldcrest Fertilizer as a shop mechanic/driver. He then worked for Bud’s Used Machinery for almost 15 years before his health started to fail.
Life is but a pleasant diversion until we join our loved ones who have gone before us.
