Rep. Earl Pomeroy announces plans to marry
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A spokeswoman for Rep. Earl Pomeroy says he is marrying Grand Forks teacher Mary Berglund next month.
Pomeroy spokeswoman Sandra Salstrom says the couple will marry July 2, at a small private ceremony at the site of his family’s homestead in Valley City.
The 56-year-old Democrat has served in the U.S. House since 1992. He is serving his ninth term in North Dakota’s sole House seat.
The University of North Dakota Web site says Berglund has been an educator for 36 years, including 11 at Valley City State University, where she taught public speaking, journalism and composition. She also was the sports editor at the Valley City Times-Record.
Berglund has taught at Red River High School in Grand Forks since 2002.
Pomeroy was divorced from Laurie Kirby in 2002. They share custody of their two adopted children.
