ND spring planting wraps up
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A drier week in North Dakota has enabled most farmers to wrap up their spring planting.
The Agriculture Department says in its latest crop report that many farmers have turned to weed spraying.
Development of crops is behind average because of the late spring. But most parts of the state have plentiful moisture for the growing crop. The report rates topsoil moisture 89 percent adequate or surplus.
Pastures also have benefited from the heavy winter snow and spring rains. Pasture conditions are rated 30 percent fair, 59 percent good and 6 percent excellent, with only 4 percent in the “poor” category.
