Wall is a state Representative from District 25. He gave an interesting report on the recent 61st Legislative Session, which was record-setting in many ways. The most bills were introduced, somewhere around 1,100. It was the longest session, 79 days, and the first to extend into the month of May. This was due to state-wide flooding problems, which shut down the legislative process for several days.
The three major goals at the onset of the session were:

• Fund areas which are important to the people such as human services, education and transportation.
• Leave the state in a sound financial position at the end of the session.
He highlighted some of these areas and concerns. They include property tax relief, K-12 education funding, higher education, infrastructure — transportation and water, economic development, energy and agriculture, law enforcement, caring for people and quality of life, honoring our military, and building a reserve for the future.
Wall said the state budget keeps expenditures in line with revenues, does not borrow and sets aside a healthy reserve total of more than $700 million. He touched briefly on a few of the 600 plus bills which eventually became law. A question and answer session followed.
