Accident in Wahpeton injures two people

At approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, the Wahpeton Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Sixth Street and Third Avenue North that injured two. An officer on scene said the driver of the Dodge Caravan, Yvonne Alaniz, was traveling east on Third Avenue North and failed to yield at the intersection. Alaniz struck a 1994 Eagle Talon traveling north on Sixth Street. The individual driving the Talon is under the age of 18, which bars his or her name from being released. Damage to the van was estimated at approximately $6,000, while damage to the Talon was estimated at $3,000. The passenger of the Talon was taken by Ambulance Service, Inc. to St. Francis Healthcare Campus in Breckenridge. Alaniz was also taken by Ambulance Service, Inc. to St. Francis and cited for failure to yield. Injuries are unknown.
