Gary Bruce Ferguson, 60, Breckenridge, Minn., died Sept. 2, 2009, at his residence in Breckenridge.

His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8 at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Breckenridge, with the Rev. Terry Tilton officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton, N.D.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Meyer, Galen Fischer, Donald Siemieniewski, Vern Schwartman, Mike Swenson, John Tate, Wally Rettig and Mark Rittenhouse.

Gary was born June 6, 1949, in Breckenridge, the son of Ralph and Clarice (Hoffman) Ferguson. He grew up and attended school in Wahpeton, graduating from Wahpeton High School in 1968. Gary then entered the U.S. Army and trained in Washington state prior to his service in Vietnam as a door gunner on a Hewey Helicopter. Gary was later transferred to Fort Sills, Okla. Following his discharge from the Army he stayed in Oklahoma for a while before returning to Wahpeton. He was currently living in Breckenridge. “Fergie” worked for several places in the Twin Towns until his health failed.

Gary was a member of American Legion Post 53 in Breckenridge. He enjoyed woodworking and collecting model trucks.

He is survived by: his mother, Clarice Ferguson, Wahpeton; his brother, Richard (Jolene) Ferguson, Breckenridge; his three sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” (Ron) Krause, Billings, Mont., Barbara (Thomas) Meyer, Minneapolis, Minn., Kathleen (Bruce) Randall, Cloquet, Minn.; his 13 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews; his special friends: Galen and Mary Fischer, and Larry Bahr.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Ferguson.
