Rose Anna Halvorson, 94, Fargo, N.D., formerly Wahpeton, N.D., died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009,  at the Palliative Care Unit, Meritcare South Campus, Fargo. 

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8 at Immanuel Lutheran Church,  420 3rd Ave. N, Wahpeton, N.D.  

Visitation will from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7 with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Willow Creek Chapel, 920 3rd Ave. N, Wahpeton. Visitation will also be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Rose (Gagelin) Halvorson was born Dec. 1, 1914, in Moritz, S.D., to Albert & Marie Gagelin. Rose grew up in Barney, N.D., the oldest of 10 children. She was employed by Johnson’s General Store in Wyndmere, N.D., and was later appointed Postmaster in Barney.  On June 17, 1950, she married Dr. DeLos Halvorson, and they lived in Hankinson, N.D. The couple moved to Wahpeton in 1960, where she was a homemaker and he practiced dentistry until 1975. After retirement they lived at Blanche Lake, Minn., and Mesa, Ariz. For the past 10 years, Rose lived at the Waterford, Fargo and  Edgewood Vista, Fargo.  

She is survived by: her son David (Val) Halvorson; her grandsons Erik (Amber) Swenson and Matt Halvorson, all of Fargo, Michael (Misty) Rensvold, Breckenridge, Minn., and granddaughter Marcia (Mark) Jodock, Barnesville, Minn.; four great-grandchildren; and brothers, Walter (Verdell) Gagelin, West Fargo, N.D., Daniel (Virginia) Gagelin, Kansas City, Kan., Richard (Kathy) Gagelin, Penn Valley, Calif.; and sisters; Margaret (Harlan) Johnson, Minneapolis, Minn., and Esther Harris, San Clemente, Calif.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, two sisters and two brothers, her husband and her daughter, Krista Rensvold.
