Mooreton Fishing Derby results

Here are the results of the Mooreton Pond youth fishing derby, sponsored by the Mooreton Community Club.

The derby was held Saturday, Sept., 5 during the Mooreton Labor Day 125th celebration.

The contest was for 14-year-olds and younger. There were 23 entrants.

1st place: 11-year-old Dylan Portales, Breckenridge, with an eight and one half pound catfish.

2nd place: 6-year-old Nate Adams, Mooreton, caught the most fish with a total of nine. Adams caught seven sunfish, one perch and one small mouth bass.

3rd place: 7-year-old Alley Speidel, Mooreton, caught a 2.1 ounce sunfish.

4th place: 10-year-old Amber Lingen, Wahpeton, who caught a 1.1 ounce perch.

5th place: 12-year-old Wyatt Schultz, St. Cloud, Minn., for coming from the farthest distance to participate in the derby.

Lunch and refreshments were served after the derby.

Hot dogs were donated by Old Mill Meats of Milbank, S.D.
