Headwaters Day brought a great crowd not only to the parade on Minnesota Avenue, but to Welles Memorial Park for food, fun and games. The Wahpeton Breckenridge Area Chamber of Commerce pre-sold 1,100 buttons for the event, which allowed access to all the games, food and events in the park.

"It's a family fun event," said Red River Valley Concierge Tessa Ihland. "The event continues to grow and this year has been busy."

Though the event is geared toward children, there is something for everyone. The Boy Scout Troop 332 hosted turtle and minnow races along with BB gun target shooting, archery and rope making. 4-H set up a rummage sale in their building, Chahinkapa Zoo brought animals for all to see and children had inflatable rides to play on.

Southern Valley Health Watch sponsored the historical trail walk, St. Mary's School held a pancake breakfast and the Breckenridge Cowboy football player served a barbecue lunch at the 4-H booth. This is the first year the chamber decided to hand out prizes. Several businesses donated coupons and other gifts to hand out as prizes.

"There was really good community spirit today," Ihland said. "I just have to say thanks to the Ambassadors for doing a good job and making this event a success. And to the community for making it a great day."
