Shannon Arndt, 32, Breckenridge, Minn., died Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, N.D.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18 at Valley Christian Church, Breckenridge, with the Rev. Dean Bjorlin officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17 with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Breckenridge.

Shannon was born Dec. 14, 1976, in Garrison, N.D., the daughter of Tom and Bette Wallace. As a young child she moved with her family to Wahpeton, N.D., Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Minot, N.D. They settled in Kent, Minn., when Shannon was in the sixth grade. She was confirmed at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Kent and attended Breckenridge schools, graduating in 1995. Shannon worked as a certified nursing assistant while she was in high school, and always had dreams of a career in the medical field. She graduated from North Dakota State College of Science with a degree in the mental health program, and then furthered her education there by also completing the licensed practical nursing program and becoming a nurse.

On Oct. 3, 2003, Shannon was united in marriage to Douglas Dale Arndt in Wahpeton. They made their home in Breckenridge. Shannon worked as a nurse at St. Catherine’s Living Center in Wahpeton and was currently working at the Leach Home in Wahpeton.

Shannon was an intelligent, compassionate and loving person who loved being a nurse. She also loved to read and was very musical, playing piano, trombone, viola and singing. She always enjoyed spending time with family and especially reminiscing with her sisters.

Shannon is survived by: her husband, Douglas Arndt, Breckenridge; her mother and step-father, Bette “Lolly” and Robert J. Voller, Dwight, N.D.; her father, Tom Wallace, Wolverton, Minn.; her three sisters, Heather (Brian) Bernotas, West Fargo, Amanda Wallace, Dwight, and Isabelle Wallace, Wolverton; her brother, Eli Wallace, Wolverton; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marlene and Dale Arndt, Breckenridge; her sister-in-law, Sheila (Pat) Satterwhite, Cottage Grove, Wisc.; her maternal grandmother, Ruth Mehlhoff, Flasher, N.D.; three step-sisters, Holly (Randy) Braun, Rosholt, S.D., Kristy Voller, Sisseton, S.D., and Robin (Steve) Wetmur, Minot; her nieces, Johnica Bernotas and Charity Wetmur; her nephews, Dylan Bernotas, Nicholas Satterwhite, Riley Satterwhite, Joshua Satterwhite; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded by: her paternal grandmother; her grandfathers; two uncles; and her godmother, Gloria Friese, who passed away five hours after Shannon.
