North Dakota State College of Science volleyball head coach Jane Passa was worried that her team may have a hard time getting up for their second match in two nights.

After a win over MSCTC, Fergus Falls, Minn., Tuesday, the Wildcats beat Dakota College of Bottineau Wednesday, 3-0.

"We started a little slow. And Bottineau always brings a very good team," Passa said. "But we toughed it out. It was a nice win because we have a big week next week."

The Wildcats and Lumberjacks played a close game to start, before NDSCS pulled out the set 25-20.

In the second game, both teams again played close.

The game was tied as late as 12-12.

Sara Opp and Megan Dierks got kills after that, while Dierks and Kayla Dougherty combined for a block and the Wildcats built a 21-15 lead.

Two long returns by Bottineau and a serve into the net gave NDSCS a 25-19 lead.

Another Lumberjacks service error gave the Wildcats the win 25-19 and a 2-0 lead in games.

In the third game, the Wildcats took control early.

Libby Augedahl served for the Wildcats and Taylor Hard had a kill to give NDSCS a 6-1 lead.

Kacie Reardon had three kills early in the game, Dougherty added another kill and Sabrina Bain served an ace to extend the Wildcats lead to 14-4.

Hannah Schradick and Leah Borderding had kills later in the game as the Wildcats went up by a 23-9 score.

At that point, the Lumberjacks started a come back and got to within 23-15.

But two more Bottineau errors gave the Wildcats the final two points and a 25-15 win.

"It was a nice win for us," coach Passa said. "We played well and more importantly, everybody got a chance to play. I got to see everyone on the court. We're going to need everybody next week."

The Wildcats travel to Ellendale to face Trinity Bible college Tuesday for their next game.

Then the Wildcats host Williston next Friday and a tournament next Saturday.
