James Kruse, 33, Wahpeton, N.D., formerly Breckenridge, Minn., died Sept. 15, 2009, at his residence in Wahpeton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wahpeton with the Rev. Dale Lagodinski and the Rev. Stan Wieser concelebrating.

Visitation will from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.

Pallbearers will be Mike Harrom, Jeremy Tischer, Scott Gefre, Shane Miranowski, Jeremy Oliphant and Jeremiah Maack

James R. Kruse was born Dec. 1, 1975, in Breckenridge, the son of Richard and Denise (Davis) Kruse. He grew up on the farm near Foxhome, Minn., and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jamie attended Breckenridge schools, graduating from Breckenridge High School in 1994. He excelled in wrestling as a high school student. Following high school Jamie attended North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, with a focus on agricultural classes. He soon became employed as a millwright with Donnan Construction and later as a welder for MDI in Wahpeton, while working as a part time trucker for Kohler and Dramm. In 2006, he began working full time for Kohler and Dramm, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. Jamie also worked part-time with his mother, Denise, on her woodworking and painting business.

He took great pride in his son, Jesse, and cherished the times he spent with him.

James is survived by: his son, Jesse Kruse and Jesse’s mother, Sara Gendreau, Wahpeton; his parents, Richard and Denise Kruse, Foxhome; his brother, Eric Kruse, Foxhome; his sister, Keri (Darren) Heutmaker, Mendota Heights, Minn.; his paternal grandmother, Audrey Kruse, Breckenridge; his maternal grandmother, Dolores Davis, Mooreton, N.D.; several aunts, uncles and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his grandfathers, Richard Kruse and James Davis; and his aunt, Donna Tischer.
