Woman asks for plea hearing in identity theft case

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A former West Fargo day care operator accused of stealing the identities of two people has asked for a change of plea hearing.

Tracy Rankin has pleaded not guilty to five counts of mail fraud and two counts of identity theft. Authorities say she ran up more than $76,000 in credit card charges off other people’s accounts.

Rankin also has pleaded not guilty on a charge of obstructing justice by retaliating against a witness.

A hearing date has not been set.
