Although the effort was there, said Huskie Coach Jodi Kleven, the team couldn’t pull it together against a forceful Packer defense.
“Wahpeton and West Fargo are really evenly matched teams,” Kleven said. “West Fargo, defensively, there was not a ball that dropped to the floor and that wasn’t true on our side.”

“They just read our front hitters quite a bit,” Kleven said.
West Fargo continued to find holes in the back row of the Huskie defense and took game one 25-16.
Momentum picked up for the Huskies, who kept it close in game two, due to consistent passing and hitting. Kleven called a timeout when the game was tied at 20-20 to give the girls additional hustle on the court.
Kelsey and Katelyn Kleven, along with Jocie Fischer, all came out strong at the net during game two allowing the Huskies to serve at 23-24. A Fischer block tied the game at 24-24, yet the Packers came away with the win 24-26.
“Fischer did a nice job doing what she needed to do,” Kleven said. “Morgan Burrer is my libero, she just passes consistently back there.”
The Packers caught a tired Huskie team off-guard in game three, only allowing Wahpeton four points throughout the whole game.
“What do you do when the bottom falls out in the third game?,” Kleven said. “We struggled giving them huge points off our airs, basically freebies.”
Wahpeton will face Fargo South Tuesday, Sept. 29 in Fargo at 7 p.m.
