Irwin advances to state golf meet

Tawny Irwin will represent the Wahpeton Huskies at the state golf tournament after she shot 99 at the EDC golf meet at the Bois de Sioux golf course in Wahpeton Monday.
Irwin was also selected to the all-conference team last week.
"Tawny is a sophomore and will continue to get better each season,” coach Jeff Ralph said, “Her ball striking is very good and as she gets more experience she will be able to score better around the greens."
Fargo Shanley won the region championship by 27 (349) strokes over 2nd place Fargo South(376).
Wahpeton placed 7th with a team total of 426.
"We finished with our lowest team score of the year and narrowed the gap between our team and 6th place," Ralph said. "Having such a young team this year, I’m encouraged to think about the future of girls golf here at Wahpeton. All of the girls gained a lot of experience and learned how to compete in golf at the high school level."
Tawny Irwin will represent the Huskies at the state tournament next week at the Bois de Sioux golf course during the state meet, which runs Monday and Tuesday, Oct., 5-6.
