Arlett Gabbert, 75

Arlett Gabbert, 75, Hankinson, N.D., died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hankinson with the Rev. Leo Deitemeyer officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the Frank Family Funeral Home in Hankinson, and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Hankinson.

Pallbearers are her grandchildren, Laiken Gabbert, Morgan Gabbert, Shelby Gabbert, Brandon Gabbert and Alex Gabbert. Honorary pallbearers are her God children, Bob Wurl, Emily Kuehl, Brenda Smartland, Paul M. Gabbert, Paul Gabbert, Linda Steinwehr, Debbie Johnson and Amanda Johnson.

Organist will be Eunice Deitemeyer.

Arlett Harriet Holm was born May 21, 1934, in Victor, S.D., to Jonas and Florence (Ekstrom) Holm. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Walla Lutheran Church. She grew up and went to school in Victor and Rosholt, S.D. After graduation, she worked for Northwestern Bell, Wahpeton, N.D.

On Sept. 20, 1953, she was united in marriage to George Gabbert at Walla Lutheran Church in New Effington, S.D. They farmed in the Hankinson area until their retirement in 1990, when they moved into Hankinson. On March 28, 2007, George died and Arlett continued to live in Hankinson.

Arlett was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hankinson. She served in various capacities at the church and was a charter member of LWML.

Family and friends were the highlights of Arlett’s life. She especially enjoyed talking, laughing and playing games with her grandchildren, and they cherished these special times spent with her.

Arlett is survived by: her children, David (Cheryl) Gabbert, Sartell, Minn., Jeffrey Gabbert and Steven Gabbert both of Hankinson; grandchildren, Laiken Gabbert, Santa Barbara, Calif., Morgan, Alex, Shelby Gabbert, Fargo, and Brandon Gabbert, Sartell; brothers and sisters, Marlyn Lubben, Alexandria, Minn., Delphine (Gary) Hermanson, Mesa, Ariz., Dallas (Deloris) Holm, Blaine, Minn., Eldean (Judy) Holm, Youngsville, La., Gordon (Linda) Holm, Pearland, Texas, and Ronald (Marge) Holm, Amarillo, Texas.

She is preceded in death by: her husband George; her parents, Jonas and Florence; and her sister, Ardell.

Frank Family Funeral Home of Hankinson is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
