Mary C. Cook, 89, Moorhead, Minn., died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, in The Evergreens, Moorhead.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Moorhead.
Mary Cecilia Reddy, daughter of Clarence and Anne (Goodheart) Reddy, was born June 21, 1920, in Graceville, Minn. She grew up in the Barry, Minn., area, and attended school in Graceville.
On Feb. 8, 1938, Mary married Virgil Cook, at Dumont, Minn. They lived in Graceville, Wheaton, White Rock, and Breckenridge, all Minnesota. While in Breckenridge, Mary worked as a nurse’s aide for more than 20 years, at a local nursing home. She attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, N.D., where she received her diploma and became an LPN.
In 1968, the family moved to Moorhead, and later to Dilworth, Minn. Mary worked as a nurse at Elim Care Center in Fargo and at Moorhead Manor. She retired in 1982.
Mary loved being a grandmother. She also enjoyed gardening, especially roses, and was an avid garage sale shopper.
Mary is survived by: a son, LaRue (Kathy) Cook, Moorhead; two daughters, Linda (Kelly) Summerville, Circle Pines, Minn., and Karen (Jerry) Boles, Andover, Minn.; three sisters, Ann Hendricks, Graceville, Lucille Hendricks, Bemidji, Minn., and Evelyn Birchem, Fergus Falls, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Virgil, in 1999; two sons, Gary and Kevin; and a granddaughter, Kari Lee Boles.
