In honor of Red Ribbon week, Breckenridge Elementary-Middle School hosted a tug-of-war between nine members of the U.S. Marines and the seventh and eighth grade class, all of which were "fighting in the war against drugs." Prior to the guard's arrival, the school lined the halls to greet and thank the men for their service. St. Mary's School also hosted a tug-of-war.
