Kelly Ruddy, 42, Kindred, N.D., formerly of Jamestown, N.D., died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Innovis Hospital, Fargo, N.D.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Garden, Jamestown.
Kelly Gene Ruddy was born Aug. 23, 1967, in Jamestown, the son of Willis and Arlene (Cox) Ost. He was raised and attended school in Jamestown. After his schooling, he worked at Serb’s and Wagon Wheel restaurants, both in Jamestown, and other area restaurants. In 1990, he moved to Bismarck, N.D., where he worked at the Golden Dragon Restaurant, the Hong Kong Restaurant, the Oasis Truck Stop and the Bismarck Refinery. From 1994 to 1995, he lived in Billings, Mont., where he worked on an oil pipeline and at the Sheraton Hotel. He moved to Wahpeton, N.D., in 1996 and worked for Santa Lucia Restaurant in Breckenridge, Minn. While living in Wahpeton, he met his future wife, Carolyn Lyman. He moved to Fargo in 1997 and worked at the Doublewood Inn until they moved to Kindred in 2003 where they owned and operated Kelly’s Corner Kafé from 2003-2007. He later worked at the Radison Hotel in Fargo. On Oct. 27, 2009, he married Carolyn Lyman at Innovis Hospital, Fargo.
Kelly enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hockey, the Dallas Cowboys and spending time with his wife and children.
Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn; five children, Keegan, Aidan and Brenna Ruddy, Kindred, Jace Brown, Jamestown, and Saraya Watkins, Mandan, N.D.; a brother, Tim Ost, Jamestown; and an aunt, Judy Trangsrud, Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
