John J. Ciesynski, 70

John J. Ciesynski, 70, Wahpeton, N.D., died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton, under the care of Riveredge Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 17 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with the Rev. Dale Lagodinski as celebrant.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15 with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton; also, visitation Tuesday one hour prior to service at the church.

Burial will be held at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

John Joseph Ciesynski was born April 10, 1939, on a farm north of Geneseo, N.D., to John W. and Theckla (Sutyla) Ciesynski. In 1952 the family moved to a farmstead one mile east of Geneseo. John attended country school at Herman No. 3 and one year at Geneseo School. He farmed with his dad for a number of years until the time of his dad’s death in 1978.

John married the love of his life, Geraldine Brosowske on June 14, 1969. They adopted a son, Michael John, age 5 weeks on May 22, 1974. On March 8, 1977 they adopted a daughter, Tammy Marie, age 6 weeks. John retired from farming in April of 1986. He worked for Richland County Highway Department, Hankinson; then for Primewood, Inc, Wahpeton from Sept 12, 1986, to May 13, 1994, when he retired due to ill health. John and Geraldine celebrated 25 years of marriage on June 18, 1994 in Cayuga Hall with family and friends. John went on dialysis in July 1994 until November 1995 when he got a kidney transplant. In 1994 they moved off the farm to Wahpeton where they have since resided. John became ill again in February 2009. He was in and out of the hospital for different medical problems. He entered St. Catherine's Living Center in March 2009. John and Geraldine celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary on June 14, 2009, with a small family gathering.

John loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards, bingo and watching “Wheel of Fortune.” He loved to talk farming with everybody. He will be sadly missed by all his loving family, friends and neighbors.

John is survived by: his wife of 40 years, Geraldine, Wahpeton; his son, Michael, Lidgerwood, N.D., his daughter, Tammy (Lance) Haberman, Wyndmere, N.D.; grandchildren, Mckenzie Storbakken and Mason Haberman, both of Wyndmere; his sisters, Theresa Siemieniewski, Lisbon, N.D., Rita (LeRoy) Metzen, Milnor, N.D., Agnes (Mark) Jensen, Bowling Green, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; grandmother, Rose Sutyla; and his brother-in-law, Joe Siemieniewski.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
