Breckenridge, Minn. — Seasonal flu, flu shots, H1N1 flu, Tamiflu... it seems you can't open a newspaper or turn on the news without hearing those words these days. The world is preparing to guard against the flu, seasonal and swine, and the local blood center is doing the same.

United Blood services is holding a blood drive at Breckenridge Lutheran Church in Breckenridge from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25. The community is welcome and encouraged to donate if you are 16 years or older, weight at least 110 pounds and in good health - additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 years and younger.

As in any flu season, keeping the blood supply humming is vital in our communities. It takes over 300 blood donations each day to keep up with the area hospitals' patients' needs.
