"No More Jellyfish, Chickens or Wimps: Raising Secure, Assertive Kids in a tough World" by Paul Coughlin – This father of three school-aged children and longtime soccer coach offers parents some ideas on bringing up daughters and sons who will “not only know right from wrong, they will also embrace integrity and courage to do what’s right.” Coughlin feels that kids today are more fearful and worried than children of previous generations. Although parents have good intentions, they are raising children with less confidence and decisiveness. Coughlin encourages and guides parents, through his writing, to raise responsible adults who have character and courage too.

"The I Love You Book" by Todd Parr – This cheery story is all about unconditional love. No matter the mood of the young character, he is loved - be it scared or brave, sleeping or sick. Parr also uses opposites to explain the feelings and actions of the character which is a great learning tool. As in other children’s books by Parr, the story is told with bright primary colored illustrations. This is a wonderful book to cuddle up with before bed with your children.
"I’m going to Grandma’s" by Mary Ann Hoberman – The involvement of a loving extended family can be priceless to your child.
