I recently was leaving Econofoods in Wahpeton and slipped on some ice in the parking lot, resulting in two broken bones in my arm and wrist. Before I could get up, there were two kind people at my side to assist me. They assured me the Econo manager would certainly want to know about this situation so they could get rid of the icy conditions and prevent further mishaps. After taking the necessary information for insurance purposes, the manager arranged for someone to drive me to Innovis Clinic for treatment. The man even walked me into the clinic to make sure I was OK — only in North Dakota.
Recently, with -30 degree wind chills, my driver’s side window on my car stuck open as I was returning from Fargo. I drove to Wahpeton and stopped at Smith Motors to see if they could assist. A kind man there first checked to see if they could fix my Volvo. Discovering that he couldn’t, he called Berger’s and the mechanic agreed to take a look at it. This was after 5 p.m., when most people are trying to lock their doors and go home for the evening. Within five minutes, the man at Berger’s had fixed the window and came back to me exclaiming that it was going to “cost me big-time” – he had taken a peppermint from my car in payment for services rendered. Only in North Dakota!
