It is Girl Scout cookie time

Some cookies help fund camps for kids. Some cheer up soldiers in Iraq. And some teach girls how to manage money and become community leaders.

It’s Girl Scout Cookie time. Girls in Wahpeton-Breckenridge will be selling 8 varieties of cookies including everyone’s favorite… Thin Mints. If Caramel deLites are your passion, then we have that too. Cookies will be sold door-to-door from Jan. 29-Feb. 14.

Each box of cookies sold helps young girls build leadership skills, learn goal setting and money management, but most of all, its fun. Proceeds from the sale stay in the Girl Scout community where they are purchased. The funds may provide financial assistance, leadership training, scholarships or camps for girls.

It’s more than just a cookie - it’s a way to develop tomorrow’s leaders. The Girl Scout cookie program has produced more female business owners than any university.

If a Girl Scout does not knock on your door, call the Cookie Hotline at 1-800-666-2141.

Troop 30785 will set up cookie shops at local businesses between March12-28. Go to www.gsdakotahorizons.org to find out where cookie shops will be held in the Wahpeton-Breckenridge area.
