Britta Manning won first place in the 2010 Breckenridge Middle School Geography Bee. She is an eighth-grader, the daughter of Joyce and Mark Manning and received a championship medal, written certificate and an inflatable globe.

She took a test to see if she is in the top 100 in Minnesota. If she is, she will compete at the Minnesota State Championships in St. Paul on April 9.

The event is sponsored by the National Geographic Society and Google. The contest was held in all classes of Paul Whitney's middle school social studies classes. There were seven rounds of oral competition.
