Krause was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer last May. Although he was determined to beat his cancer, he died Jan. 19 at his home with his family by his side. Organizers still want to give his family peace of mind and help them pay for medical and living expenses.
“There is real financial need here,” Marlys Dotzenrod said.

The benefit is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6 with a meal from 5-7 p.m. at the Wyndmere Community Center and a raffle and auctions to follow.
“When Paul and I first started our business Jan. 1, 1979, Mike was our first and only employee,” Dotzenrod said. “He worked for us until his death. Mike was a great guy and like a brother to Paul. I can’t even describe how much we will miss him.”
She said Krause was so dedicated to his job he was never late, even through his chemotherapy treatments. He said all along the cancer wasn’t going to beat him, but by the time doctors diagnosed his lung cancer it has metastasized into his brain. In order for him to beat the cancer, Krause had a long uphill battle.
He handled his illness with grace, Dotzenrod said. He never complained, even through the chemotherapy which was hard on his body.
“Mike was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather," Dotzenrod said. "His cleverness, sense of humor and passion for life will be missed by all who knew him.”
There are some wonderful prizes, including 50-inch and 42-inch Panasonic TVs, weekend getaway for four at Thumper Pond, a family sitting for an 8x10 portrait from LaMar Photography, a Remington shotgun and a Henry Golden Boy .22 rifle, quilts, aerial spraying, gift certificates, baskets, Sirius radio with $55 membership, scrapbooking kits, hunter’s knife and so much more.
