Fargo youth hockey teams might merge

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A task force is looking into the possibility of consolidating Fargo's three long-standing youth hockey feeder programs into one organization, because of dwindling numbers.

A public meeting on merging the Fargo Flyers, Fargo Angels and Fargo Raiders is set for Monday night at Carl Ben Eielson Middle School.

Task force leader Brian Werk says the Flyers, Angels and Raiders all are dealing with lower-than-normal numbers at the youth level. Those numbers eventually could affect Fargo's high school boys hockey teams.

A consolidated youth program could open opportunities for athletes who otherwise could not be on a team because there were not enough players at their current Fargo youth organization.
