A former U.S. senator pursuing Minnesota's spot for governor is visiting Breckenridge on March 8.

Mark Dayton, who officially kicked off his campaign Jan. 20, is embarking on an aggressive "87 Counties in 87 Days" tour intended to spread his views on education, health care and a progressive tax system, among others.

"I just see so much going wrong in Minnesota today," he said via YouTube on his campaign Web site. "I see the state headed in the wrong direction with regressive taxes that mean the rich don't pay their fair share, which is fundamentally wrong and putting our state in a fiscal stronghold."

Dayton, one of a dozen DFL gubernatorial candidates, has previously served in the state department of economic development and energy.

The event, held at 12 p.m. at the Northern Grille, is meant to allow Wilkin County residents to express their concerns and questions.
