Huskies qualify events for state track

West Fargo won the boys EDC track title Saturday at Frank Vertin Field at North Dakota State College of Science.

The Packers finished the meet with 182 team points, while Fargo-South finished on top in the girls meet with 202 points.

The Wahpeton boys placed sixth with 45 points and the Lady Huskies were seventh on the girls' side with 27 team points.

Huskies that qualified for the state track meet at the EDC included Ryan Smith, who won the 100 meters (10.64) and the 200 meters (22.19).

Smith, along with Zayne Medhaug, Connnor Ralph and Justin Formaneck also qualified in the 4x 400 meter relay with their second place showing (3:30.81).

The 4x 100 meter relay ream of Formaneck, Smith, Aaron Schmit and Kevin Gregorie also finished in second place (44.70) to qualify for the state meet.

For the Lady Huskies, Morgan Burrer qualified for the state meet in the javelin with a throw of 113 feet, four inches.

The girls 4x 200 meter relay team of Jordan Braun, Ariel Edwards, Kasey Lasch and Molly Wynn finished fifth, but qualified for the state meet with a time of 1:51.19.

The state track and field meet starts Thursday in Bismarck.
