Earl William Hartleben, 77, Hankinson, N.D., died peacefully Tuesday May 21, 2013 surrounded by family.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday May 25, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hankinson with the Rev. Adam Moline officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Hankinson.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday.

Earl was born June 29, 1935 in Hankinson to Robert and Tillie (Medenwaldt) Hartleben. He went to country school and later attended Parochial School for seventh and eighth grades. He then worked on his dad’s farm.

Earl was united in marriage to Daisy Meyer April 26, 1969. They moved to Hankinson and lived on the Rhiney Franz farm until 1973 when they moved to Earl’s parent’s farm where they farmed until 1980. They then moved to their current residence outside of town. He also drove a milk tanker for Cass Clay in Fargo, N.D., worked at Wil-Rich, worked for Dennis Tischer and then went to work farming for Robert Miller until he retired in 2007.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, bowling, dancing, playing cards with family and friends and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor and was known for his countless years of accordion playing in several polka and country western bands.

He is survived by his eight children: Wanda (Steve) Barnes, Northglenn, Colo., Pamela Goss, Colorado Springs, Colo., Doug (Nancy) Hartleben, Thornton, Colo., Don (Michelle) Hartleben, Parker, Colo., Brad Hartleben, Denver, Colo., Cheri (Tim) Pollom, Cheyenne, Wyo., Rhonda (Jeff) Vizenor, Breckenridge, Minn., and Michele Hartleben, Hankinson; 19 grandchildren: Tyrel (Monique) and Kevin Barnes, Charles (Danielle) and Brandon Payne, Kali Goss, Timothy and Jennifer Hartleben, Matthew, Jordan, Chase and Alec Hartleben, Courtney, Aubrie, Kylie and Garrett Pollom, Justin Andel, Carly, Jacob and Cierra Vizenor; three great-grandchildren, Raiden Payne, Emma and Isabella Payne; two brothers, Dean (Audrey) Hartleben, Hankinson, Dale (Barb) Hartleben, Fargo; three sisters, Anetis Pohl, Rosholt, S.D., Marcy Lees, Wahpeton, N.D., Joyce (Leonard) Polansky, Aurora, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Hartleben; parents, Robert and Tillie Hartleben; a brother, Randall Hartleben; and sister, Darlene Baker.

Frank Family Funeral Home in Hankinson is in charge of the arrangements.
