Special Olympians bowl in Alexandria in Area 4 competition

Fall has approached the area, which means Special Olympics Bowling for area residents of West Central Community Services in Breckenridge.

On Tuesday, Oct. 21, 12 individuals took to the lanes of the Garden Center Bowling Alley in Alexandria, Minn., for the Area 4 Special Olympics Bowling competition.

These athletes included Raymond Fust, Tonya Ross, Cindy Ellefson, Steven Bugbee, Leonard Sherek, Tina Schillinger, Greg Gmeiner, Jeremy Stahl, Tracy West, Karen Stanley, Trish Stahl, and Susan Dohman.

Coaches Amanda Hinrichs and Ashley Lunsetter accompanied these athletes from Wilkin County DAC along with Kathy Hasbargen from West Central Community Services.

Each individual bowled two games against teammates and other individuals from the area, including Alexandria, Perham, Morris, Moorhead, and Fergus Falls.

Susan Dohman received 8th place, Karen Stanley and Trish Stahl each brought home 7th, Tracy West took home 6th place, Greg Greimer and Jeremy Stahl received 5th place, Steven Bugbee, Leonard Sherek, and Tina Schillinger placed 3rd, Raymond Fust, Tonya Ross, and Cindy Ellefson received 2nd.

Athletes will now take a long break over winter awaiting the next meet, which will be Athletics in May 2009.
