We are finally having some nice weather. What a wonderful feeling to leave your coat at home! Good weather brings great outdoor activities to our area.
In the world of horses, spring and summer mean we can finally enjoy our horses outside; horse activities are in full swing in our area. Horse shows, rides, mounted shooting competitions and barrel races are held every weekend. Just last Thursday evening, at the Red River Riders outdoor arena in Breckenridge, their Summer Fun Show season has begun.
Throughout June, July and August, most every Thursday evening, starting at 6:45 p.m., the Red River Riders Saddle Club Fun Shows are offered to the horsey crowd.
Last Thursday night, the new English riding division was introduced and was well attended, then was followed with Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, Barrels and Pole Weaving classes. All age groups are invited to participate from the Pee Wees through the Senior Plus. Different classes are held each week and high point awards are given at the end of the season. What a wonderful time of fun and camaraderie with horses.
You will find at the arena a well-stocked concession stand available to the exhibitors and the audience. Seating and clean bathrooms are also present. It’s a family friendly environment, full of horse-crazy enthusiasts.
Along with the Summer Thursday evening fun shows, the Breckenridge Red River Riders Arena also plays host to the local Equestrian 4H Group on Monday evening and throughout the summer other horse shows. Below is a small listing of upcoming events at the Red River Riders Arena in Breckenridge.
If you enjoy being around horses or want to attend a fun event, make sure to make the horse arena a must attend summer destination.
