OUTDOORS ROUNDUP:

HOPPERTIME.  If you’re looking for a great grasshopper imitator for bluegills, trout, bass and other fish that smash the surface when these kicking insects hit the water, try the Rebel Crickhopper on light tackle. Twitched slowly, it mimics a stranded hopper. Retrieved quickly, it’s a unique crankbait as well!

TRY IT ON FOR SIZE.  Check over hunting pants and chaps and be certain they fit (too many summer bratwursts, I know) and are in good shape.  Look for thread loss or separations in seams and for holes in any material and repair them with a few quick stitches, or add to your replacement list for fall.

LEG DAY.  If you’re planning on a rugged terrain hunt this fall – or any hunt, really – it’s important to put the time in on lower-body muscles to tackle long trails and scaling inclines.  Basic leg lifts, like squats, lunges, calf-raises and stair steps will help strengthen glutes, hamstrings, quads, calves and build stability.   Mammoth Hunters has a great list of exercises to get you started, take your time, know your limits and practice good form.
