OUTDOORS ROUNDUP:

HOW COLD?  It looks like next week’s cold spell is moderating some, with the worst of the chilly weather falling in midweek, with things warming up just in time for your weekend hunts or ice fishing trips.  We should have solid stuff on the surface of most small lakes by Saturday, so get your gear ready!

SEE THE SIGN.  The USDA is ready to go ahead of the opening of tomorrow’s general sign-up for CRP.  With a site packed with fact sheets, FAQs and contact info, everything landowners need to take advantage of the nearly 8 million acres open to the enrollment period is there.

CLEAN UP.  If you haven’t already, inventory your ice tackle and check to see that hooks are sharp.  Due to cold, wet conditions and some time off over the season, rust can be a common problem in ice tackle boxes, so be certain that any damaged or corroded hooks are removed and replaced.
