IN SIGHT. Run the last few rounds through your rifle this week to make sure everything is on target and ready to go. Stash a few spare cartridges in your travel pack or field kit as well, just in case.
GEAR CHECK. Make a checklist of all those things which are vital to your hunt and hunting style from your deer tag on down to a backup pair of thermal socks. Run through it this weekend and next Thursday to be doubly-certain that nothing is left behind.
3-2-1 CONTACT! Have the numbers of landowners and hunters in your group in your phone and written down for folks at home and have established check-in times to ensure safety in the field. Leave a map of where you’ll be at so people know where to look.
