1. A wayward roadrunner ended up in Maine after it accidentally hitched a ride in a moving van. The native southwestern species was transported to Avian Haven, a bird rehabilitation facility in Maine, which said it is in “remarkably good shape.”
2. A 6-year-old girl was reunited with her beloved teddy bear, Teddy, which she lost last year during a visit to Glacier National Park. Naomi Pascal has had Teddy since her adoption from an Ethiopian orphanage in 2016. Her family put out a plea on the park's Facebook page to find it. Ranger Tom Mazzarisi, a bear specialist in Glacier, spotted the stuffed bear, soaking wet and sitting in melting snow near the Hidden Lake Trail. Teddy was reunited with his rightful owner.
3. An 89-year-old Rhode Island man achieved a goal he spent two decades working toward and nearly a lifetime thinking about — earning his Ph.D. and becoming a physicist. Manfred Steiner recently defended his dissertation successfully at Brown University in Providence.
