Severe storms expected late afternoon into the evening

The National Weather Service of Grand Forks, North Dakota warns of severe storm weather until late tonight. 

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks, North Dakota, has released a severe storm warning for Thursday, May 12, late afternoon into the evening. Large hail, strong winds, tornadoes and flash flooding are all possibilities.

Severe thunderstorms are set to be widespread in Wahpeton and Breckenridge, Minnesota. Hail and possible tornadoes could be scattered throughout the southern Red River Valley, with more hail further west in North Dakota. Wind may get up to 75 mph in the area.

In the event of flash flooding, citizens are encouraged to not drive, and if they must drive, make sure you are not driving through floodwaters.

Impacts of the storm may vary, but property damage to vehicles and buildings and damage to trees and other vegetation are expected.

The National Weather Service recommends that all citizens have ways to get informed about possible changes in the weather.
