Winning $1 million Powerball ticket sold in Wahpeton

A Powerball ticket that won North Dakota’s $1 million prize Wednesday, Oct. 13 was sold at the Southern Valley Travel Center, Wahpeton, according to state lottery officials.

The winner has not yet come forward to claim the prize and may choose to remain anonymous, lottery marketing manager Ryan Koppy told radio station KFGO. The North Dakota Lottery is waiting to find out who the winner is and what they plan to do with the winnings.

The winning Powerball numbers were 23-29-47-59-60-15.

The Southern Valley Travel Center, which includes a Cenex gas station and convenience store, is located at the Ninth Street North and 210 Bypass intersection.

“It’s all by luck,” said Wade Griffin, Cenex’s retail manager.

Luck occasionally happens more than once. According to Koppy, the Cenex store previously sold a winning $1 million ticket in March 2013.

“The store will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket,” KFGO reported.
