Larry Lee McQuade, 74, of West Fargo, North Dakota, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Essentia Hospital with his family by his side.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service Friday, March 15, 2019 at the West Funeral Home in West Fargo.
Larry was born to Clarence “Mac” and Olive “Minge” (Towner) McQuade on Nov. 19, 1944 in Breckenridge, Minnesota. Larry graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1962, where he was involved in football, basketball, theatre and choir. After graduation, he then attended MSUM and also enlisted in the North Dakota ARMY National Guard.
In 1968, he married Cheryl Fluto and had two children, Stacy and Chad. Larry was a career cattleman, working for Held Beef, Federal Beef and American Foods Group. In addition to working for these companies, he was most proud in starting his own business, McQuade Livestock, where he bought, sold, and transported cattle
Throughout his life, Larry always had a passion for horses, livestock and the cowboy way of life. He loved traveling to rodeos where he competed as a team roper. In his retirement years, Larry loved spending time with his family and friends. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He loved going to all their sporting events, other activities and Chad’s Fargo Invader football games.
Larry is survived by his children: Stacy (Dean) Rindy and Chad (Jer) McQuade, both of West Fargo, North Dakota; his grandchildren: Beth, Bennett and Devan Rindy; Gage (Heidi), Paige and Madden McQuade; his sisters: Jean Helmuth, Littleton, Colorado; Glennys Medenwaldt, Wahpeton, North Dakota, and Gayle (Doug) Ahlsten, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Archie “Dude” McQuade.
The family would like to extend their love and thanks for the exceptional care that was provided at Essentia Hospital in Fargo. Also, for all the thoughts and prayers that were received on Larry’s behalf.
