“… I ride my bike, I roller skate, don't drive no car/
Don't go too fast, but I go pretty far/For somebody who don't drive I been all round the world/Some people think I done all right for a girl …”

Melanie's "Brand New Key," released in 1971, is our theme song this week. Why? Because the Kiwanis bike rental program is back at Chahinkapa Zoo.

You won’t believe the fun we are having with this. You can rent a single bicycle, a two-seat tandem, or a four seated unit during zoo open hours.

These are for your use outside of the zoo and rent for an hourly rate. The Chahinkapa Zoo Association is excited about this partnership and we are most thankful to the Kiwanis!

The project began over a year ago with discussions between Kiwanis members, the Wahpeton Park Board, and Chahinkapa Zoo.  It has progressed to fruition and is available now.

Our bike program fosters healthy living and enjoyable recreation. Many people have never experienced a tandem bicycle or even do not own a bicycle. Now, they can enjoy one all summer long.

The bikes rent for $7 an hour for a two-wheeled single or $12 an hour for a tandem bike.

Check them out, then "check 'em out" and smile.

See you at the zoo!

Kathy Diekman, director of Chahinkapa Zoo in Wahpeton
