Zach Haire

Zach Haire nabbed win No. 75 during Breckenridge’s most recent tournament hosted at Central Cass High School. The Breck freshmen traveled to Mahnomen, Minn., for their tourney.

The Breckenridge Cowboys participated in the Lettermens’s Invitational Wrestling Tournament on Friday, Jan. 4 and Saturday, Jan. 5 at Central Cass. This was added to their schedule after not being able to participate in the Rumble on the Red at the end of December due to weather. This was the Cowboys’ first time taking part in this tournament. Only four varsity wrestlers competed for BHS due to injury, illness and five of the wrestlers competing at the ninth grade league tournament in Mahnomen, Minnesota.

All of the Cowboy wrestlers were able to pick up at least one win. Zach Haire went 4-3, placing sixth at 120 pounds and in the process obtained his 75th win.

The Cowboys had success in the freshman league, too. Aidan Ruddy (132 pounds) had an exciting true second match, winning 5-4 and securing a trip to the Ninth Grade State Tournament on Feb. 2. Grant Davis placed fourth at 120 pounds.

The Cowboys are back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at a quadrangular in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, taking on the home team, Perham and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, Minnesota.
