Lysne in second entering final round of state

Anaka Lysne tees off on hole No. 1 in the first round of the North Dakota Class A State Golf Tournament Monday, Oct. 4 at Edgewood Golf Course. 

FARGO, ND — The Eastern Dakota Conference 2021 Senior Athlete of the Year, Wahpeton's Anaka Lysne, started off the North Dakota Girls Class A State Tournament Monday, Oct. 4 with an opening-round 76 (+4) at Edgewood Golf Course.

Lysne finished her round strong, with five pars and two birdies over the last seven holes. Lysne shot a 40 on the first nine and a 36 on the second leg to earn a second-place tie with Anna Huettl of Mandan. Hannah Herbel of Bismarck Century leads the field with an even-par 72. Carrie Carmichael, Williston, and Lexi Bartley, Fargo Davies, are tied for fourth with a five-over 77. 

Wahpeton is currently in seventh place as a team (350), narrowly trailing Grand Forks Red River (349) and Bismarck Legacy (346). Halle Miller joins Lysne as the only other Wahpeton golfer in the top 25, tied for 23rd with an 85 (+13) after day one.
